EMMA A. MOORE DIED LAST WEEK

Daughter of Pioneer Manager of Buffalo Mills was 79 Years of Age

Emma A. Moore, member of a pioneer family in the Buffalo neighborhood of Madison county, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, at her home in Winterset. She was 79 years of age.

She was the daughter of Phillip and Ellen Crawford Moore, and was born near Winterset Dec. 18, 1867. For many years her father served as manager of the old Buffalo Mills, a landmark of pioneer days in southwest Iowa. These mills were located on Middle river, just south of Winterset.

All of her long life was spent in and around Winterset, with the exception of seven years in Nebraska.

She had been a member of the Primitive Baptist church here since 1924.

Surviving are her son, Carl Moore, of California; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Hartman of Winterset and Mrs. Ollie Morris of Seneca, Neb.; a brother, Homer Moore of Stockton, Calif.; two grandsons; and two great grandsons.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Primitive Baptist church near Winterset, in charge of Elder A. W. Tompson of Casey. Burial was made in the Primitive Baptist cemetery.
