LAMONT "MONTY" THORPE, Winterset

Services for Lamont "Monty" Thorpe, 82, Winterset, who died Nov. 25, 1989, at the Bethesda Care Center, were held Wednesday morning, Nov. 29, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Early, Iowa on March 8, 1907, he was the son of Frank and Theresa Schneider Thorpe. He was married to Mary L. Eckstein on Dec. 8, 1956 at Lake View, Iowa.

Mr. Thorpe had lived in Madison County for 45 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Oddfellows Lodge and was superintendent of the E. I. Sargent Quarries for 45 years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry L. Thorpe of Belize, Central America; daughters, Linda M. Wenger and Sharon Lee Huff, both of Winterset; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
