Muriel Lathrum, 90, of St. Charles died of a heart ailment July 14, 1999, at Winterset Care Center South.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17, at St. charles Parish Church with the Rev. Ed Poston Officiating. Burial was at Union Chapel Cemetery.
Muriel Lathrum was born Aug. 22, 1908, in Adams Township in Dallas County to Leon J. and Alwilda (Wilda) McKibben Morse. She was a graduate of Patterson High School. On Feb. 14, 1929, she married Walter Stephen Lathrum in Indianola. A homemaker, she was a longtime resident of St. Charles, residing at Winterset Care Center South the past two years. Muriel had been a 4-H leader, a member of W.S.C.S., a former member of Madison County Farm Bureau and was the 1989 Community Service Award recipient (of St. Charles).
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a grandaughter, a great-granddaughter and three sisters.
She is survived by four sons, Johnnie Lathrum (wife Pat) and David Lathrum (wife Martha), both of St. Charles, Wayne Lathrum (wife Joyce) of Johnston and Don Lathrum (wife Genie) of Olathe, Kan,; one daughter, Doris Downs (husband Larry) of St. Charles; one brother, W.C. "Bill" Morse (wife Velda) of Winterset; one sister, Maxine Jensen (husband Ed) of winterset; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St.Charles Parish Church or Middle River Hospice.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Home in Truro.
