BRENDA SMITH, Creston

Brenda E. Smith, 34, of Creston died Dec. 13, 2004, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of complications from surgery.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 17, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Brenda Smith was born April 14, 1970, in San Antonio, Texas, to Carl Keith and Peggy Ann (Woodley) Kirkland. She graduated from Orient-Macksburg High School in 1988. She also attended Southwestern Community College in Creston where she received an associate degree in accounting. In April of 1991, she moved to Creston where she worked for SIRHA. On Aug. 10, 1991, in Macksburg, she was united in marriage to Randy Smith. Brenda was a member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church. She also coached volleyball in Greenfield from 1995–99 and Little League softball in Creston.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Bettie Woodley.

She is survived by her husband, Randy, of Creston; two daughters, Carla Jean and Raegen Marie, both of Creston; her parents, Carl and Peggy Kirkland of Lorimor; three brothers, Bob Kirkland of Lorimor, Jim Kirkland of Leawood, Kan., and Tom Kirkland of Sturgeon, Mo.; and paternal grandparents Ralph and Leona Kirkland of Macksburg and maternal grandparents Ronald and Norma Woodley of Winterset.
