VIOLET THOMSEN, Des Moines

Violet R. Thomsen, 95, died May 11, 2002, of a heart condition at the Des Moines home of her daughter, Barbara Thomsen.

Burial of the cremains will be at Cuppy's Grove Cemetery, Shelby County, with graveside services to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18.

Violet Thomsen was born Oct. 28, 1906, in Shelby County, Iowa, where, in her adult life, she had been a country school teacher. She married Clifford D. "Tommy" Thomsen in May 1933. Violet, a resident of Winterset from 1949 to 1992, had been a member of the Winterset First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by three children, Barbara G. Thomsen of Des Moines, Lauritz Kristofer Thomsen of Chicago and Deanne K. Finneran of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild

Arrangement were handled by Caldwell-Raddatz in Des Moines.
