Matt A. Walters, a resident of Madison county for most of his long life, died here last Friday at the age of 91 years.

Mr. Walters was a native of Kentucky, where he was born March 6, 1855, in Whitley county. He came to Madison county when he was 21 years of age.

He was married March 29, 1881, to Martha Jane Adams. They were the parents of 16 children, of whom 10 are now living.

He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Bessie Thomas of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Essie Votruba of Des Moines, Mrs. Nora Clark of Winterset, Mrs. Hattie Armstrong of Los Angeles, Calif., Lee Walters of Minneapolis, Minn., Charlie Walters of Van Meter, Ray Walters of Rapid City, S. Dak., Mrs. Edna Salley of Minneapolis, Minn., Earnest Walters of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Grace Jenson of Mason City. He also leaves a brother, Sherman Walters of Winterset; 25 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Anderson home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
