Funeral Tuesday For HELEN THOMPSON

Miss Helen Louise Thompson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William H. Thompson, who was born at Monroe, Iowa, October 2, 1887, died at the age of 76 years at the Horton Nursing home in Wintersest, Sunday, April 19, 1964.

At the age of two years, her mother died and she and her older brother lived with an aunt in Jersey City, New Jersey, until she was nine, when her father remarried and she went to live in his home at Monroe. The family moved to Winterset when she was a child.

Following her graduation from the Winterset high school, she attended Muskingum college in New Concord, Ohio, and received her degree.

Miss Thompson taught in the schools at Winterset and then went to Kansas City where she taught thirty years, retiring in 1952. She has since made her home in Winterset.

She was a life member of the Kansas City Teachers' Club, was President of the Womens Council of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset for two years, and was teacher of the Westminster Class.

Her brother, Wallace, and her parents preceded her in death. A half brother, Russell, also preceded her in death. Only survivors are two cousins, in Ohio.

Funeral services were held in the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset, Tuesday, April 21, in charge of Rev. John E. Fink. Interment was in the Winterset Cemetery.
