ALVIN C. JOHNSON DIES AT 96 YEARS

Death Occurred On Sunday At His Home in Winterset

Alvin C. Johnson, a resident of Madison county for most of his long life, died Sunday, July 14, at his home in Winterset. He was 96 years of age.

Mr. Johnson was born in this county Feb. 12, 1867, a son of Charles W. and Elizabeth Markley Johnson. He was a retired farmer and a member of the United Presbyterian Church.

He was married Sept. 4, 1899 to Laura Butler. She preceded him in death, as also did two of their daughters, Mrs. Clara Yetter and Mary Johnson. He was married in 1947 to Madorah Honeywell, who survives him.

Mr. Johnson also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Paullin of Winterset and Mrs. Ethel Henry of Earlham; and a son, James Johnson of Winterset, in addition to 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Wilson Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Greenfield cemetery.
