Henry Wilkinson, member of a pioneer Madison county family, died at the Clarinda infirmary last Saturday after several years of failing health. He was 83 years of age.

Mr. Wilkinson was born near Winterset on March 21, 1862, and spent practically all his life in Madison county. He was the son of John and Sarah Allen Wilkinson. His active years were spent at the blacksmith trade in Winterset.

He was married on May 5, 1887, to Minnie A. Darnall. They were the parents of three children. Their youngest son, Sgt. George Wilkinson of Winterset's Company A, 168th. Inf. Reg., was killed in action against the Germans at Sedarn, France, during World War I. The wife and mother died about five years ago.

About four years ago Mr. Wilkinson left here to make his home with his grandson, Robert Wilkinson and family of Storm Lake.

He is survived by one son, Clyde Wilkinson of Winterset; a daughter, Mrs. Harry Balch of Hyattsville, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. George Shoemaker of Winterset, and Mrs. Pearl McKinnis of Des Moines; and four brothers, Elmer, John and Caleb Wilkinson all of Des Moines and Rollin Wilkinson of Rockford, Ill.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from Anderson's funeral home, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
