BERNICE THOMAS, Winterset

A private family burial was held at the Orient Cemetery for Bernice Thomas, 92, who died July 24, 1986, at the Care Center North in Winterset. The body was cremated.

Born at Orient on Nov. 3, 1893, she was the daughter of Hal Carpenter and Nellie Brown. On May 18, 1913, she was married to Ted Thomas at Towner, Colo.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Methodist religion and a resident of Madison County for the past 67 years.

Survivors include a son, Edward Raymond Thomas of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Helen Thomas of Alaska and Virginia Lincoln of Des Moines; a brother, Byron Carpenter of Des Moines; a sister, Carol Evans fo Savannah, Ill.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two children, three brothers and a sister.
