Funeral Saturday For Mrs. James

Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Danforth James, 98, of Normandy Hills Care Center in Des Moines were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10 at Collins Funeral Home. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery with Rev. David Livingston officiating. Mrs. James died Wednesday, March 7 in Des Moines.

Born on October 1, 1880 in Madison County, she was the daughter of William and Lydia Benge Danforth. She was married to Allen James in 1924 at Winterset. She was a Winterset resident most of her life.

Survivors include a son, Fred Allen of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Smith and Mrs. Mabel Benge of Winterseet; 12 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren, and 24 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and a sister.
