LEWIS ELMER TERRY

Lewis Elmer Terry, oldest son of W. T. and Agnes Terry, was born on Sept. 1, 1879 and passed away July 2, 1923, at the age of 43 years, 10 months and 1 day.

He was one of a family of ten children, three having preceded him in death. His father died in April, 1904. He spent most of his early life near Winterset. In 1901 he went to Oklahoma, where he was united in marriage to Stella Jones. To this union were born five children, four of whom are living. Irma passing away at the age of 16 months.

He united with the Church of Christ at the age of 21 and ever remained a faithful member. He served as superintendent of the Sunday school, taught Sunday school classes and helped in any other way that he could when called upon. He was a member of the Early Chapel church at the time of his death. He was taken ill more than a year ago, from which he never recovered.

He leaves to hold him in cherished memory the wife and four children, Mrs. Lela Gearhart of Lorimor and Willie, Isabel and Velma, who are at home with their mother. He also leaves the aged mother, Mrs. Agnes Terry of Winterset, and three sisters: Mrs. Charles Lotz of Winterset, Mrs. Chas. Ostmyer of Sioux City, Mrs. John Muston of Kennebec, S.D., and three brothers: Albert of Conrad, Mont., G. C. of near Lorimor, and Ben of Kennebec, S.D.

Funeral services were conducted from the Church of Christ in Winterset Thursday afternoon by E. B. Chancellor. Burial in the Winterset cemetery.

Lewis Terry, who has been confined at the Iowa State Hospital at Clarinda for some time, passed away Monday as the result of nerve trouble. He was brought to Winterset today and funeral services held there. Mrs. John Huston and brother Ben Terry, of Kennebec, S. D., arrived Wednesday to attend the funeral of their brother.
