Mrs. C. M. Bruett, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Tuesday night at her home in Scott township. She was 68 years of age.

Mrs. Bruett was the former Devond Edna Cline, daughter of John and Mary Cline, and was born in Jackson township March 23, 1876. She was married to C. M. Bruett on Oct. 17, 1899. They lived at Earlham for eight years, then moved to Scott township where her home had since been. Mr. Bruett died on the twenty-eighth day of last month.

Mrs. Bruett is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mary Kirby, Mrs. Zola Gentry, Mrs. Fred Grulke, and Mrs. Margaret DeVault; and four sons, Otis Bruett of Murray, Charles Bruett at home, Harold Bruett of Winterset, and Corp. Clifford Bruett of the U.S. army. She also leaves a brother, Merton Cline of Jackson township, and a sister, Mrs. Gertrude McCleary of Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral arrangements had not been made as the Madisonian went to press.

LAST RITES FOR MRS. BRUETT

Devona Edna (Cline) Bruett died January 23, at the age of 68 following her husband’s death which occurred 25 days ago. She was born March 23, 1876, the daughter of John L. and Mary Cline.

In early life she joined the Early Chapel Church of Christ and remained a member until death.

On October 17, 1899, she was united in marriage to Charles M. Bruett. To this union were born eight children, four daughters and four sons.

Survivors are her children, Mrs. Mary Kirby, Mrs. Zold Gentry; Mrs. Freda Grulke; Mrs. Margaret DeVault, Otis, Charles A. and Harold Bruett, all of Winterset, and Clifford of the armed forces. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, two of whom are Mrs. Maxine Hart of Winterset and Leon Hardy who is a prisoner of war in Germany; and two great-grandchildren; also a brother, Merton Cline of Jackson township and a sister, Mrs. Gertie McCleary of Kansas City, Missouri.

Funeral services were held at the Ramsey–Richards funeral home Friday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m., and were conducted by Rev. Tom Foglesong. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
