MORTUARY

Sarah Frances Eldridge

Sarah Frances Harris, daughter of James and Sarah Harris, was born May 6, 1868, in the pioneer Madison county home, south of Winterset, where she spent her girlhood days. After she came to womanhood she proved to be one of the county’s most successful teachers over a period of nine years.

At an early age she became a member of the Church of Christ and spent her entire life in active devotion to Jesus. On January 27, 1898, she was united in marriage to L. A. Eldridge. God sent two children to bless the home, a daughter, Opal, and a son, Leslie Arthur. Her life was also busy in faithful, loving service to her own loved ones. She cared for the aged mothers of herself and her husband with an outstanding sweetness and devotion.

She departed this life July 16, 1930, at her home on the St. Charles road, aged 62 years. She leaves her husband, L. A. Eldridge; two children, Mrs. Thomas Wearmouth and Leslie Arthur; her step-daughter, Mrs. Joe Harris; a grandson, Dale; her sister, Mrs. U. L. Skinner, of Collins, and two brothers, M. E. and J. L. Harris.
