Rufus H. Baker, a life-long resident of the North Branch neighborhood in Jefferson township, died at the Winterset hospital last Thursday after an illness of several months. He was 68 years of age.

Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, three sons, and three daughters. The sons are Petty Officer Rollin Baker of the U.S. Seabees, Lieut. Marcy Baker of the U.S. navy, and Corp. Dwight Baker of the U.S. army. The daughters are Mrs. Louise Walker of Des Moines and Mesdames Eva Carter and Nola Chapman of DeSoto. The only son who was able to attend the funeral was Lieut. Baker of Lakehurst, N. J., who arrived last Friday for a 9 day leave.

Funeral services were held last Saturday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. Mr. Suckow. Burial was made in the North River McDonald cemetery.
