Florence Addie Pitzer, a member of a pioneer family in this community, and a resident of Winterset for most of her long life, died Sept. 4 at the home of her niece, Mrs. E. W. Buck, of Alsea, Ore. She was 88 years of age.

Miss Pitzer was the daughter of Dr. John N. and Mary Amos Pitzer, and was born at New Rumley, O., on April 10, 1856. In 1959, the family moved to Tallyrand, Ia., and later to Winterset where she made her home until 1935. Since then she had made her home with her brother, George Pitzer and his daughter, Mrs. Buck, at Alsea. The brother died four years ago.

Her nearest surviving relative is a brother, N. D. Pitzer.

Funeral services and burial were held at Salem, Ore.
