Virgil Daniels of St. Charles Commits Suicide

St. Charles - Special – Virgil Daniels, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Daniels, killed himself sometime Sunday evening at the Earl Dudney home, near St. Charles.

The Daniels live on a farm south of St. Charles. It is stated that Virgil had gone to the Dudney home, in Ohio township, where he had been working, Sunday evening. He visited for a while with Mr. and Mrs. Dudney. They went to the barns, on an errand, and when they returned they found a note signed by the young man, stating that they would find his body near a brooder house. They went there and they found that he had shot himself in the head with a revolver.

J. A. Leach, county coroner, was called, and he declared his death was by suicide

VIRGIL MILLER DANIEL

Virgil Miller, son of William and Daisy Daniel, was born near St. Charles, June 25, 1911, and departed this life July 6, 1930, at the age of 19 years and 11 days.

His education was received in the St. Charles school and in the Truro high school. He had worked away from home some in recent years, but this year his father had rented more land so that he and his brother might be home and help with the farming. In the last year or more, Virgil had been in poor health, suffering from an inward goiter, appendicitis and a weak heart. His condition frequently caused him to faint.

He leaves to mourn his death, his father and mother, one brother, Roy, three sisters, Mrs. Harold Tuttle, Mrs. Walter Shutt, and Susie, in the home; his grandfather and grandmother, Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Miller; two nieces, Vilna Tuttle and Daisy Bell Shutt; five nephews, Alden, Lyle, Merril and Wendell Tuttle and Doyle Shutt, besides many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 8th, at the home, at 2 o'clock conducted by the Rev. F. G. Barnes. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
