LEROY H. HYMES DIED THURSDAY

Funeral Services Held Here Monday; Burial at Union Chapel

LeRoy H. Hymes, a well-known resident of Winterset all his life, died at his home here Thursday, Aug. 25. He was 76 years of age.

Mr. Hymes was born in Winterset March 18, 1884, a son of Milton and Elizabeth Gratner Hymes. His father died when he was a small boy, and he went to work at an early age. He worked for many years as a railroad section hand, and later the county road gang. In later years he was a ditch digger and tiler.

He is survived by a brother, Lawrence Hymes of Winterset; and two sisters, Mrs. Sydney B. Quaintance of Oakland, Calif., and Florence Hymes of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Anderson-Wilson Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Robert Damon, pastor of the First Baptist church of Winterset. Burial was made in Union Chapel cemetery.
