Services for Willard "Bud" Melvin Hylton, 68, Altus, Ark., who died Sept. 4 at Sparks Hospital, Ft. Smith, Ark., were held Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. John Shaull officiating. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery.
Born at Winterset Sept. 2, 1917, he was the son of Dale and Ila Hiatt Hylton. A former Winterset resident, he had worked as a carpenter and was employed at the Sinclair Bulk Plant for 25 years and the Penn Dixie Quarry for 14 years.
Mr. Hylton was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the First Christian Church here.
On Oct. 8, 1960 he married Juanita Lewis at Denver, Colo. Mr. Hylton moved from Winterset in 1972.
Survivors include his wife; a stepson, Charles W. Knight of Stuart; stepdaughters, Beverly Neal of Winterset and Veneta Parker of Wilmington, N.C.; a brother, Jim of Denver; a sister, Virginia Bergman of Loveland, Colo.; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
