Death of Lawrence Hull

Lawrence Hull, a former resident of the Peru neighborhood, died Friday, December 30th, at his home in Olathe, Kansas at the age of 78 years. He had been ill for many months, with an internal ailment and two weeks ago, pneumonia developed causing his death.

Mr. Hull, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hull was born November 21, 1854, and was raised in Gilman, Iowa. He moved to Peru in 1913, and made his home there for seventeen years. The last two years he has resided with his daughter, Mrs. Montie Shields in Olathe.

His marriage to Clara Shepard took place January 2, 1881 at Gilman and she died in 1923. They were the parents of seven chiildren, two dying in infancy and two grandchildren. Those surviving are Mrs. Earl Bass of DeGraff, Ohio; Mrs. Lulu Scott of Mountainsburg, Arkansas; Mrs. Lelah Danley of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Montie Shields of Olathe, Lonnie and Laverne Hull of Peru and Mrs. Elsa Ridgeway of Kelly, Kansas. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Mary Springer of Marshalltown, Mrs. Albert Middleton of Pierre, South Dakota and Mrs. Matt Selby of Cambridge, Nebraska.

The body was brought back to Peru and the Rev. E. H. Sands, pastor of the Peru church conducted his funeral services there, Monday afternoon, January 2. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
