George Breen, former well known Madison county resident, died Wednesday morning, June 28th at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines, after a three months illness. George Breen, was born in Lee township, and lived in that township until he left the farm a few years ago. Mr. Breen is a veteran of World war I and served overseas with the U.S. army.

Funeral services for Mr. Breen will be held at St. Anthony's church in Des Moines Saturday morning, July 1st at 9 a.m. and burial will be made in St. Patrick's cemetery in Lee township.

He is survived by his wife of Des Moines, and eight brothers and sisters: Mike Breen of Winterset, John Breen of Des Moines, Dan Breen of Adair, Jim Breen of Old Mexico, Maurice Breen and Mrs. Frank Davit of Omaha, Neb., and Miss Joan Breen and J. W. Breen of Chicago.
