Wednesday, February 02, 1944C. O. Clements, a pioneer resident of Madison county, and long a substantial citizen of this community, died at his home in Madison township Sunday. He had been in failing health for several years, and seriously ill for the past month. He was 84 years of age.
Mr. Clements was a native of Illinois, coming to this county in early life. With the exception of a year spent in Earlham, the last 45 years of his life were spent on the same farm in Madison township.
His wife, who survives him, was the former Ora C. Haxton. In addition to her, he leaves six daughters, Mrs. W. E. Hadley, Mrs. R. H. Moreland, and Mrs. W. F. Price, all of Earlham; Mrs. Guy Hayes and Mrs. Russell Duff, both of Des Moines; and Mrs. Guy Moore of Earlham. Two sons and one daughter preceded the father in death. He also leaves a brother, Frank Clements of Jackson township; and a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Burke of Spokane, Wash.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Worthington church in charge of the Revs. Ivan R. Mills, S. R. Overhulzer and Reed Kessler. Burial was made in the Worthington cemetery.
