Charles A. Berry, one of the prominent farmers of Monroe township, died at his home there last Friday. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. Berry was the son of William and Elizabeth Berry and was born in Monroe township on Nov. 14, 1868. His entire life was spent in that community.

He was married in April, 1894, to Clara B. Shackelford. They were the parents of three children, Mrs. Olga Peterson of Winterset, and Orra and Omer Berry who live on farms near the home place. The wife and mother died in October, 1902.

He was married in August, 1904, to Lulu May Starks. They were the parents of one child, Mrs. Mabel Davis, who lives near the home farm.

He is survived by his wife; the four children; 11 grandchildren, a sister, Julia Harden of Des Moines; and a brother, Frank Berry of Lorimor.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Fellowship church in Monroe township, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Thompson. Burial was made at Lorimor.

Services Sunday For Monroe Twp, Farmer

Charles Allen Berry, one of Monroe township’s oldest residents, died Friday at his home at the age of 75. His home in Monroe was very near the place of his birth. Mr. Barry was born November 14, 1868.

He was married in April 1894 to Clara B. Shackelford and to this union three children were born, Olga Peterson of Winterset, Orra and Omar Berry, both on farms near the home place. Mrs. Clara Shackelford Berry died in 1902.

In August 1904 he was united in marriage to Lulu May Starks and one child was born to the couple, Mabel Davis, who now lives in the same community.

He is survived by the four children and wife, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Julia Harden of Des Moines and one brother, Frank of Lorimor.

Funeral services were held Sunday at two p.m. at the Fellowship church conducted by Rev. Thompson. Burial was made in the Hamblin cemetery.
