Long-Time Resident Died on Jan. 11 at Age of 76 years

Mrs. Catherine Kerns, long-time resident of the Macksburg community, died at her home there Tuesday of last week. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Kerns was the former Catherine Longnaker, and she was born Jan. 17, 1867, in Queens county, New Brunswick, Canada.

She was married at Macksburg, to Albert Kerns, on May 6, 1888. They were the parents of three sons, all of whom survive. Her husband died in 1929.

Mrs. Kerns had united with the Pleasant View Methodist church in 1893, and later transferred to the Macksburg Methodist church, where she was long an active worker.

She is survived by the three sons, Orin Kerns of Orient, Walter Kerns of Macksburg and Verlin Kerns of Lorimor; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Friday from the Macksburg Methodist church and burial was made in the Moon cemetery there.
