Virgil Dale Hubbard, 51, of Winterset, died of a heart attack Wednesday, Jan. 28 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday Jan. 31, at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with the Rev. Duane O'Tool officiating. Burial was at North McDonald Cemetery in Madison County with military graveside service by the American Legion Post No. 184 and V.F.W. Post No. 8142 of Winterset.
Virgil D. Hubbard was born July 12, 1946 to Earl Edward and Evelyn Brittain Hubbard in Madison County. He married Thelma Lanbein April 12, 1969. He served with the U.S. Army in Viet Nam and was a truck driver for Wheeler Consolidated Lumber in Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Edward Hubbard.
He is survived by his wife; his mother; one son, Michael Hubbard of Des Moines; two daughters, Tracy (husband Jeff) Larsen of Grinnell and Stacey Hubbard of Winterset; two sisters, Susan Strause of New London and Nancy Hansen of Bagley; and three grandchildren.
