Had Been Patient at Memorial Hospital Here More Than Year
Mrs. Mary H. Howell, prominent Lee township woman and a resident of Madison county most of her life, died Sunday, May 13 at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset where she had been a patient for more than a year. She was 90 years of age.
Mrs. Howell was born in Jefferson township, and with exception of 15 years at Riverside, Calif., had spent her life in Madison county. She was the former Mary Hutchins, daughter of John and Ann McManus Hutchins, and was born Sept. 8, 1871.
She was married Sept. 14, 1897 to B. Frank Howell who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Methodist church, and was affiliated with the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving are one son, Hugo H. Howell of Cumming; three daughters, Mrs. John H. Hawley of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Ken Courter of Covina, Calif. and Margaret Howell of Los Angeles; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
Burial was made Tuesday in the Norwalk cemetery with grave side services in charge of the Rev. Mr. Griffen.
