DEAN CLARK TATE, California

Dean Clark Tate, 101, a native of Winterset, and a resident of Yucaipa for 35 years, died July 8, 1987, in Livonia, Mich.

After graduating from Des Moines College and receiving a masters degree from Ann Arbor University, Ann Arbor, Mich. Tate taught in Dearborn, Mich. schools for 25 years. He concluded his years in education as principal of Dearborn High School.

In the early 1950s, Tate moved to Yucaipa. He was an active member of the Yucaipa United Methodist Church and moved to live with his daughter, Mary McLeod, in Livonia 18 months ago at age 99.

Tate was preceded in death by his wife Prudence in 1973. He is survived by two daughters, Helen Snyder of Seattle, Wa. and Mary McLeod of Livonia, Mich.; two sisters, Mabel Myers of San Marcos and Gertrude McKinney of Alhambra; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A service of celebration was held July 19, 12:30 p.m., at the Yucaipa United Methodist Church, Dr. Charles Boss, pastor of the church, officiated with the pastor emeritus, Dr. Albert Cavanough, assisting. Interment was in Montecito Memorial Park Mausoleum.
