Long-Time Resident Passes Thirteen Days After Death of Husband

Mrs. Margaret Burd, a life-long resident of Winterset, died Monday at her home here of a heart attack. She was 75 years of age.

Thus her death followed just 13 days the death of her husband, Henry Burd, who succumbed here on May 5.

Mrs. Burd was the former Margaret Armbrest, daughter of Casper and Mary Etta Armbrest, and was born in Winterset on Sept. 21, 1866.

She was married to Henry Burd on Feb. 18, 1889. They were the parents of six children, two of whom died in infancy. Those surviving their mother are: Cap Burd of Minnesota, Mrs. Bessie Miles of Winterset, Mrs. Daisy Karous of Des Moines, and Clair Burd of Winterset. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Rose Burd of Winterset, Mrs. Kate Ward of Redfield, Mrs. Nell Roberts of Des Moines, Eli Armbrest of Winterset, Sol Armbrest of Des Moines, and Charles Armbrest of Winterset. One sister, Mrs. George Adkins, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held this afternoon from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home here, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis assisted by the Rev. Tom Foglesong.

Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
