Henry H. Burd, a well known Winterset citizen who for the past 30 years had been caretaker for the Winterset cemetery, died Tuesday night. He was 77 years of age.

Mr. Burd had been a resident of Madison county for 76 of his 77 years. Born May 14, 1864, in Minard county, Illinois, he came to Iowa as an infant with his parents, Simeon S. and Mary Hults Burd.

They settled on a farm near Peru, where he was reared. As a young man he came to Winterset, and this had been his home for the past 47 years.

He was married on Feb. 18, 1889, to Margaret A. Armbrest. They were the parents of six children, two of whom died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Cap Burd of Minnesota, Mrs. Bessie Miles of Winterset, Mrs. Daisy Karous of Des Moines, and Clair Burd of Winterset; and one sister, Mrs. May B. Bacon of Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
