Wednesday, April 22, 1942Former Resident Succumbs at Minneapolis at Age of 70 years
Mrs. Harold V. Huntoon received word early Tuesday morning, of the death of her uncle, Ernest C. Sprague, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Mr. Sprague was 70 years of age. He had been in failing health for several years and was receiving treatment at a hospital in Minneapolis, at the time of his death, which occurred Monday evening.
Funeral services were held at Sioux Falls, Wednesday afternoon, at 3 o'clock, and the body is to be brought here Thursday for burial in the family lot at the Winterset cemetery. Brief services will be held at the local cemetery this Thursday, at 11 a.m.
Mr. Sprague was born in Winterset on February 23, 1872, the son of Porter B. and Nancy Packwood Sprague. His father was a pioneer Winterset merchant.
Mr. Sprague was graduated from the Winterset high school, and became a registered pharmacist. He was connected with a drug store in Winterset for a number of years, but moved to Sioux Falls about 28 years ago, where he has since resided.
He was married to Miss Britta Light, of Winterset, who survives him. He also leaves one daughter, Helen Louise, and a niece, Mrs. Huntoon of Winterset. His only sister, Mrs. E. E. McCall, of Winterset, died in 1939.
