Services for Esmond E. Howard, 90, Winterset, who died Oct. 13 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the St. Charles Methodist Church with the Rev. S. D. Bodwell officiating. Burial was at the St. Charles Cemetery.
Born in Madison County July 31, 1894, he was the son of Elmer E. and Jennie Lathrum Howard. A lifetime resident of the area, he was a retired farmer and worker for Penn Dixie, retiring in 1962.
He was married to Jennie E. Wise in Madison County to July 12, 1913.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Dick of West Des Moines, Wayne of Truro and Bim of Norwalk; a sister, Orma Howard of the Bethesda Care Center here; 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, a brother, and a sister.
