Elmer "Bim" Howard, 80, of Indianola died of heart failure Dec. 18, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 21 at St. Charles Parish Church. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery.
Bim Howard was born June 20, 1921 to Esmond and Jennie (Wise) Howard of St. Charles. A resident of Indianola for the past nine years, he also had resided in Churchville. He retired in 1982 from Armstrong Tire & Rubber following 34 years of employment as a tire builder. He also had farmed. Bim was a member of St. Charles Parish Church, Masonic Lodge 315 A.F.& A.M. in St. Charles, Mall Walkers Club and Local 164 in Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
He is survived by his wife, Leola of Indianola; two sons, Dwayne Howard of St. Charles and Wayne Howard of Des Moines; a daughter, Terry Howard of Des Moines; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Charles Parish Church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.
