Spent All of Active Life in Livestock Purchasing Business
St. Charles-(Special)-Harry T. Houston, who spent his entire adult life as a livestock buyer in this community, died Monday, March 1, at his home in St. Charles. He was 72 years of age.
Mr. Houston was a native of Clarke county and was born near Osceola on May 7, 1875, the son of Franklin and Susan Houston. He came to St. Charles as a young man, starting as a stock buyer for the late J. F. Johnston of that community. The remainder of his life was spent in that occupation.
He was married Jan. 17, 1917, to Katherine Luke of St. Marys who survives him. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Mary Griffith of Winterset, and Mrs. Arnetha Bock of Chicago; two sons, Richard Houston of Des Moines, and Franklin Houston at home; two sisters, Mrs. Audrey Pendarvis of Des Moines and Mrs. Hattie Archer of St. Charles; and three brothers, George Houston of Montana, William Houston of Truro and T. B. Houston of St. Charles.
Funeral services were held last Thursday from St. Marys Catholic church in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Father Phelan. Burial was made in the St. Marys cemetery.
