ROBERT EUGENE "GENE" HUSTED, TRURO

Services for Robert Eugene "Gene" Husted, 80, long-time Madison County resident who died Dec. 9, 1982, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, were held Monday, Dec. 13, at the Truro Christian Church with the Rev. Janne Clinton of New Virginia officiating. Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery at Osceola.

Born Jan. 3, 1902, in Winterset, he was the son of Robert and Gertrude Husted. He attended Osceola schools and was a farmer and cattle buyer in the Truro area. He married Lois Minard March 1, 1921 and the couple had three children. She died in 1970.

He married Grace Durfey May 2, 1971 and she survives along with daughters, Verna Husted Morford, Dexter, Doris Husted Holz, Rippey, Carol Husted Berg, Port Huron, Mich., and Dottie Durfey Reed, Winterset; a son, Bill Durfey, Truro; a sister, Gertrude Hazel Fischer, Atherton, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, six great grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death besides his first wife were his parents and a brother, Miles.
