WILBERT L. VAN DEVENDER, Earlham

Graveside services for Wilbert L. Van Devender, 83, Earlham, who died April 28, 1990 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, were held on Tues., May 1, at the Earlham Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Menning officiating.

Born May 5, 1906 at Gridley, Ill., he was the son of John O. and Anna Kirk Van Devender. His family moved to Adel when he was a young boy and he graduated from Adel High School in 1926 and was married to Thelma Marion of Earlham on January 22, 1938.

He and his wife farmed until 1941 when they moved to Glendale, Calif., and lived there for 29 years. Mr. Van Devender was an electrician at ITT Canon. He retiried and moved to Earlham. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 80 in Adel.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma, and a daughter, Janice Ashton, of Palmdale, Calif.
