George T. Houlette, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Friday, June 2, at his home in Winterset. He was 76 years of age.
Mr. Houlette was born in Madison county June 11, 1895, a son of William and Magdalena Hattel Houlette. His active life was spent in farming near St. Charles. He retired in 1968, and moved to Winterset in 1969.
He was a veteran of World War I, having served overseas in France for 11 months with the 349th Infantry regiment of the 88th division. He was a member of the American Legion.
He was married here Feb. 14, 1971 to Shirley M. Klug who survives him. He also leaves a brother, William D. Houlette of Maxwell.
Rosary was recited Sunday evening for the deceased at the Collins Funeral home in Winterset. Funeral services were held Monday from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in charge of the Rev. Fr. Lawrence Beeson of Council Bluffs. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with military ritual by Green-Rogers post of the American Legion.
