Elsie Vandermey of Truro died Wednesday, December 19, 1979, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 82. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 22, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with Rev. George Campbell officiating. Burial was at Fields Cemetery in Clarke County.
Born on September 25, 1897 in Jasper County, she was the daughter of John and Sarah Meekma Vandermey. She attended Jasper County schools and was a licensed practical nurse. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Truro and the Thursday Girls.
Among the survivors are a sister, Dorothy Vandermey of Truro; a niece, Kay Perkins of Columbus City, and a great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Clarence; and two sisters, Yetta Vandermey and Martha Stevens.
