CHARLOTTE A. VANCE, Winterset

Charlotte A. Vance, 73, of Winterset died Juy 31, 2000, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines from complications associated with lukemia.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at the Word of Life Christian Center near Winterset. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery, Adel.

Charlotte Vance was born Jan. 6, 1927, to Leroy and Gladys (Cronk) Croft of Toledo, Iowa. Her marriage to Tom Vance took place Feb. 7, 1953, in Sedalia, Mo. She was a school teacher for the Winterset School District for 24 years, retiring in 1998. Previously, she was a teacher at Turkey Valley High School in Jackson Junction, Iowa. Charlotte was a member of the Word of Life Christan Center, the Christian Women's After 5 Club and a member of P.E.O.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Leslie Nichols (husband Steve) of Adel and Sydney Feild (husband Chuck) of Overland Park, Kan.; three sons, Greg Stahl (wife Nancy) of West Union, Mike Vance of Irving, Texas, and Jim Vance (wife Beverly) of Winterset; and 11 grandchildren.
