August 9, 1923Death Of B. L. VanVetchen
Burton Lee VanVetchen, a former resident of Winterset, died suddenly on Tuesday, July 31st, 1923, at his home in LaJara, Colo., at the age of 61 years, of acute indigestion.
Mr. VanVetchen was born in New York state, but came here when a small boy, to live with his parents, and will be remembered by many Winterset people. He worked in the west side hardware store, then owned by Benge Bros., and it was there he learned the business that he later engaged in.
He was a schoolmate and close friend of Ab Black of this town. In 1887 he moved to LaJara and lived there until his death. In 1892, he was married to Miss Gertrude Wilson of that place, who survives him.
