August 5, 1970ALMA WILLIAMS Dies At 77 Years
Services were held last Friday, July 31 at Madrid for Alma K. Williams, former Winterset resident, whose death occurred July 29, 1970, in Des Moines. The Rev. Charles Miller, Pastor of College Ave. Christian Church in Des Moines, officiated at the services. Burial was made at Madrid.
Mrs. Williams was 77 years of age at her death. She had been in the hospital for 5 weeks and had spent one week in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Roach, in Winterset and appeared to be convalescing before returning to the hospital last Friday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Williams operated a meat market and grocery store in Winterset from 1931 to 1934. Since then her home had been in Des Moines where she was a member of the College Avenue Christian Church. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star and was affiliated with the Acanthus Chapter of the Eastern Star in Des Moines. She was a retired department sales woman having worked at Younkers Bros. for 33 years.
Preceeding her in death were her husband on June 10, 1957 and a daughter, Mrs. Yvonne Cessna, in April, 1964.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Roach of Winterset, and a son, William F. of Torrance, California; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and a sister, Minnie Carlson of Madrid.
