Mrs. Charles A. Mark, a long-time resident of the Earlham community, died last Friday morning at her home in Lee township, where she had lived in recent years. She was 68 years of age, and had been in ill health the past year.

Mrs. Mark was the former Leona Mae Brown, daughter of James and Anne Brown, and was born in Dallas county, near Earlham, on Aug. 29, 1877. She was reared in that community, and attended the Earlham schools and academy.

She was married Aug. 5, 1903, to Charles A. Mark of DeSoto. They lived on a farm near Earlham until 1933, and since had moved several times in Madison county.

Mrs. Mark was a life-long member of the Presbyterian church.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Earl Mark of Cumming; and a sister, Mrs. A. E. Compton, and a brother, Milo Brown, both of Earlham.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Earlham Presbyterian church, in charge of the pastor Rev. S. R. Overhulzer. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Leona May Brown, the daughter of James M. and Anna E. Brown was born August 29th, 1877 and departed this life at the home near Cummings, Iowa, March 28, 1946.

She spent the early part of her life in and near Earlham. She attended the Earlham school and academy. She was united in marriage to Charles A. Mark of De Soto, Iowa, on August 5th, 1903, to which union one son, Earl was born.

In early life she united with the Presbyterian church of Earlham, later transferring her membership to the Methodist church in De Soto, where she continued her membership.

She leaves to mourn her passing, the husband, and son, one brother Milo Brown, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Compton of Earlham, besides nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

For the last months of her life she was an intense sufferer, but without murmur or complaint. She was a faithful companion, a devoted mother and a kind and loving neighbor. She will be greatly missed in the home and community in which she lived.

Funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon by the Rev. S. R. Overholser. Interment in the Earlham cemetery.
