OPAL M. JACKSON

Opal M. Jackson, daughter of Mrs. Gertrude Jackson and the late DeVere Jackson, passed away November 11, 1962 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.

Opal was born near Earlham on June 13, 1919. She graduated from the Earlham High School in the class of 1936. She attended Iowa State University, and was graduated from the University of Nebraska in business Administration.

In 1943 she went to Washington, D.C., and at the time of her death she was assistant chief of Educational Research Service of the National Education association.

She was a member of New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, and was currently serving as secretary of the Women’s Association. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Jackson of Earlham, and her sister, Mrs. Charlene Walters of Hillsdale, Michigan, and also three nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services were held in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, November 13. Here in Earlham services were held on Thursday, November 15, at the First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dean R. Redshaw officiating.

Casket bearers were Dale Mills, Gus Lorenze, B. G. Harris, George Radakovich, Russell Ralston, and John Godby. Music was provided by Mrs. Fred Fry, organist, and a ladies quartet, Mrs. Earl Schalkle, Mrs. R. W. Godby, Mrs. Don Hardin and Mrs. Robert Bobst. Burial was at the Earlham cemetery.
