Geneva Marie Hougham

Geneva M. Hougham was born the daughter of J. LeRoy and Grace Belle Kenyon Lafferty in Correctionville, Iowa on March 31, 1912 and died at the Adel Acres Care Center in Adel on April 16, 2005 at the age of 93 years, and 16 days.

Geneva lived in Correctionville, Iowa until 1943, moving to Earlham where she lived until 2003 when she moved to the care center in Adel. Geneva and Russell Hougham were married in Adel, Iowa on June 26, 1929. This union was blessed with three children; Norman, Larry and Margie Louise.

Geneva was a member of the Earlham Church of Christ. She worked for several years at the Earlham Library and was a proof reader at the Earlham Echo Newspaper. Geneva was also the first “home care aide” in Madison County for the Earlham Care program.

Geneva is survived by her sons Norman and wife Evelyn of Earlham, IA; Larry and wife Carol of Adel, IA; grandchildren Ron Hougham and wife Gaye of Earlham, IA; Jill Van Woerkom and husband Jay of Pella, IA; Barbra Anthony and husband Troy of Adel, IA; great-grandchildren Cara Anthony of Adel, IA; Ryan Hougham of Earlham, IA; and Kendall Van Woerkom of Pella, IA.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russell in 1961 her infant daughter Margie Louise and a sister Marge Lafferty.
