Frances C. Plucar was born the daughter and fourth child of David Harrison and Harriet Belle Collicott Schoonover on July 26, 1913 at the family farm in Big Grove Township, Benton County, Iowa, and died of multiple system failure at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa on January 2, 2003.

Frances married George Plucar on December 27, 1952 in Kirksville, Missouri. Francis was employed at Diamond Laboratories in Des Moines for 18 years, retiring in 1978. She had previously driven school bus for the Chelsea, Iowa Community School. Frances loved to travel. She also loved to spend time in her garden where she raised vegetables and flowers. She was an excellant cook. Frances was well liked by everyone who came into her life.

Frances spent the last 38 years with her long-time companion Bill Garrett of Dexter. Family members who survive to carry on her memory are: son Charles Smith and wife Gayle of Tama, Iowa, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Plucar, a daughter, 2 sisters, and a brother.

A graveside funeral service was held at 1:00 pm on January 6, 2003 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama, Iowa. Visitation was held 1 hour prior to the service. Rev. Neal Hanley of Earlham, Iowa presided over the service with special solo music played including: "In The Garden" and "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder".
