June, 1948John Harry Jacobson died at the Veterans’ hospital in Des Moines Tuesday. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian church. Burial was in the North Branch cemetery. The Earlham American Legion was in charge. Mr. Jacobson was a veteran of World War I.
JOHN HARRY JACOBSON
John Harry Jacobson was born in Earlham, Iowa, June 29, 1896 and passed away at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, June 7, 1948, at the age of 51 years, 11 months and seven days.
He grew to manhood in Earlham and at the age of 22 enlisted in the U S Navy and served his country as a seaman 2nd class, during World War I. He received his honorable discharge in 1919, then returned to his home in Earlham where he worked for a number of years for the Hawkeye Portland Cement Co.
In the year of 1942 he went to Chicago, Illinois, where he worked for the Burlington Railroad until the time of his illness. He will be remembered by many as a person willing to help and share at all times.
He leaves to mourn his passing, three brothers, Elmer of Earlham, Charles and Arthur of Des Moines, and one sister, Mrs. Ellen Colles of Los Angeles, California.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Presbyterian church conducted by the pastor, Rev. S. R. Overholser with interment in North Branch cemetery.
