ELMER GEORGE JACOBSON

Elmer George (Butch) Jacobson was born in Earlham, Iowa, on January 23, 1898, and passed away at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines on June 27, 1965, at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 4 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Sophie Louise and Lee Alexander Jacobson; also by two brothers, Harry and Henry, and one sister, Olga McGargle. There remains to mourn his passing two brothers, Arthur of Des Moines and Charles of Earlham, and one sister Ellen Colles of Los Angeles, California; as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

His entire life was spent in and around Earlham. Until his retirement in 1963 he had worked for Hawkeye and Marquette Cement Co. for 42 years. Butch was a true friend to everyone and was loved and respected by anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was remembered for his generosity especially toward children, whom he loved. He will be greatly missed by all his relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Jacobson were held Tuesday, June 29, at the First Presbyterian church in Earlham, with interment at North Branch cemetery east of Earlham. The Rev. Dean R. Redshaw was in charge of the services. Casket bearers were Earl Anker, John Jensen, Ralph Wheeldon, Leslie Mapes. The organist was Mrs. Fred Fry. The church floral committee took care of the flowers, and Evans Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
