Helen Longabaugh, 88, of Corning died Dec. 31, 2004, at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the United Methodist Church in Corning with Pastor Andrew Rubenking officiating. Burial of the cremains was at Pryor Creek Cemetery in Metz, Mo.
Helen Longabaugh was born July 1, 1916, to Donald Giltner and Mary Myrtle (Shriver) Foreman of Iola, Kan. She was a 1934 graduate of Metz High School in Metz, Mo. On Dec. 24, 1934, she married Solomon Lewis Longabaugh in her parents’ Metz, Mo., home. Helen was a member of the Corning United Methodist Church, where she was active with United Methodist Women, taught Sunday school and helped with the youth group. She also was a lay minister in Brooks, Carl and Carbon and volunteered at the hospital. She had resided in Winterset from 1963 to 1974.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Horace Foreman.
She is survived by two sons, Rod Longabaugh of Corning and Steven Lewis Longabaugh of Haslett, Mich.; two daughters, Helen K. Clausen of Elgin, Ill., and Sherry Beem of Casa Grande, Ariz.; a sister, Marjorie Heggy of Kansas City, Mo.; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be donated in her name.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service in Corning.
