Naomi "Sue" Poe, 76, of West Des Mines died of a heart attack Dec. 6, 2000, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 9, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with the Rev. Scott O'Conner officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery with military rites performed by V.F.W. Post 8142 and the American Legion Post 184, both of Winterset.
Sue Poe was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Winterset to Leslie and May (Olsen) Caudle. A 1941 graduate of Winterset High School, she received a degree in business from Capitol City Community College in Des Moines. Her marriage to Omar Leslie Poe took place in June of 1946. She served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and worked in the Embarkation office in San Francisco, Calif. Sue was an administrative assistant for Interstate Assurance Company in Des Moines for many years, retiring in 1986. She also worked at Johnny & Kay's Restaurant in Des Moines for several years. She was a life member of the Women's Marine Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister and a brother.
She is survived by two daughters, Penny Brown (husband Ken) of Winterset and Janet Castillo (husband Jose) of Golden, Texas; a brother, Loren Caudle (wife Dona) of Winterset; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
