DOROTHY WILSON Dies at 43 Years

Mrs. Gene C. Wilson, well known resident of Jackson township and a teacher in the Winterset schools for the last six years, died last Wednesday, July 13, 1966, at St. Mary's hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. She had been stricken with cancer last spring.

Mrs. Wilson had lived in Madison county the last seven years. She had taught sixth grade in the Winterset schools for four years, and special education classes the last two years.

She was 43 years of age at her death. The former Dorothy Marie Byerly, she was born in Decatur county, December 15, 1922. Her parents were Edgar H. and Olive Mitchell Byerly. She was married to Gene C. Wilson at the Bear Creek church, north of Earlham, on March 18, 1944. They made their home near Curlew for 14 years, before coming to Madison County seven years ago.

Mrs. Wilson was an active member of the Bear Creek Friends church.

She attended Penn college at Oskaloosa for two years, and completed her education at Drake University in Des Moines, receiving her degree last August.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by a son, Gilbert Norman, who died in infancy. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Connie Jean; an adopted son, Harold Bryan Wilson; her mother, Mrs. Olive Byerly of Osceola; a brother, Dr. Olin Byerly of Eugene, Oregon; and three sisters, Mrs. Leonard Mitchem of Haviland, Kansas, Mrs. Dale Stephenson of Osceola; and Mrs. Ted Grau of Columbus, Nebraska.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Bear Creek church, conducted by the Rev. Ernie Baiotto. Burial was made in the Dawson township cemetery in Paton.
