William F. Monaghan, of Ankeny, a former resident of Madison county, died last Thursday, Dec. 22, 1966, at a Des Moines hospital. He was 52 years of age.
Mr. Monaghan was born in this county, and spent his early life in the St. Patrick's community in Lee township. He had lived at Ankeny the last 16 years, where he was a machine operator at the John Deere plant.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name society, the Dowling club and president of the Old Fiddlers association in that community. He was also a member of the United Auto Workers of America.
He is survived by his wife, Viola; three daughters, Betty, Thelma and Margaret, at home; four sons, William, Thomas, James, and John, all at home; a brother, John Monaghan of Des Moines; and four sisters, Mrs. Rose Walter and Mrs. Kathryn Morris of Des Moines, Mrs. Agnes Moore of Winterset, and Mrs. Mable Carpenter of Tampa, Fla.
Funeral services were held Monday from Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic church at Ankeny, with burial in St. Patrick's cemetery in Lee township.
